What is the peculiarity of sebaceous pig breeds? These animals stop building up muscle mass quite early (at about the time when they reach 130 kg), but fat is formed in an enhanced mode for a long period. In the world market, sebaceous pigs have low popularity. The reason, first of all, is that there is a regular demand for pork meat, but fat is consumed in smaller quantities. It is rarely bought, so that pig breeds of pigs often do not even pay for their content - they are not always profitable. As a rule, they are bred in enterprises that use fat for subsequent processing, sales to large factories, and production.
And though the benefit from a greasy pig is small, it is very convenient in cultivation, as it is picky in nutrition and maintenance. With them it is much easier than with meat species. Females differ in their fertility and shortened gestational age (100-112 days), and males have a calm disposition and are very intelligent.

The Mirgorod breed of pigs was created in the Poltava region (Ukraine) in 1940. To obtain the species, crosses were conducted among the Temvos, Large White, Ukrainian Short-eared, and Bekshire breeds. The resulting species quickly spread throughout the world, but, as in former times, it is most in demand in Ukraine.
Boars weigh about 250-300 kg, females slightly less - 220-240 kg. The constitution of the animal is massive. The body, like the chest is wide, the legs are strong. Medium sized head. The ears are well developed, bent forward, slightly covering the eyes. Color can be black, black and motley.Important! Breeders of breeds of pigs very rarely withdraw breeders because the demand for them is small, compared with meat or meat-sebaceous.
Slaughter carcass yield 85%. In this case, the best quality is observed precisely in lard; it is considered to be almost the best in the world and costs accordingly. But the meat is not very good. Individuals grow very large. Weight boar reaches 360-400 kg with proper fattening, and females 280-300 kg. An animal has a proportional body, a large body, a rather long body. The back is wide, as is the chest, straight. Legs are not long, but strong and even. The head is shortened, medium. Ears are long, turned forward hanging down over eyes.Important! The main disadvantages are: constitutional changes, folded skin, backward sagging. But all the disadvantages of the Large Black Pig breed can be solved by crossing with other species, for example, with Large White.
On average, 12 piglets are obtained from a single farrow. Dairy females take good care of their offspring, so the survival rate is high. A large black pig is often used to cross breeds. Scientists note that she has very good genetic material, although, for such experiments, only purebreds are always selected.

The Ukrainian steppe ryabaya pig was bred by crossing Mangalytska, Berkshire and Ukrainian white steppe breeds in Ukraine, in 1961. Individuals are quite large. The weight of the boar is 280-300 kg, the females - 180-230 kg. The back is flat and wide. Ham is clearly distinguishable, legs are strong, not high. The head is average, neat. For farrowing, 9-11 young individuals are obtained with strong, stable immunity (high survival rate). Milkiness is not bad, females are caring, good mothers - anxiously protect and raise their offspring.

Often, mangalite is attributed to the meat-greasy direction, but this is why, the animal responds well to different types of fattening. An adult animal weighs about 300 kg (boar). The meat of the breed is dietary, and the bacon is very tasty (about 8-10 cm thick), but to get it you need to plant the animal on a proper diet.Important! Mangalitsa color swallow adapted for walking on large pastures. Part of her diet can make up pasture, which she finds herself on the walking, so that in terms of nutrition, it is very beneficial.
These are strong animals with strong legs and a large, but neatly folded body. The main distinctive quality of appearance is curly wool covering practically the whole body. Color "swallow" involves a mixture of black (upper torso) and fawn (lower torso, legs, head) flowers.
Sexual maturity falls on 10 months, but it is better to wait until 12. For the first time, the female produces no more than 6 babies, and at subsequent farrowings, 10-12 piglets can be obtained. Pigs are born striped like wild boars, but with age the stripes disappear, and the animals acquire a color characteristic of the breed.
The immune system is resistant to many diseases inherent in pigs, so they are often not even vaccinated after birth. They withstand significant temperatures, hardy, picky, not only to the content, but also to food. In general, it is almost perfect greasy pig. Its main disadvantage is that individuals sold for breeding are very expensive, and finding breeding pigs can be difficult.
When choosing a breed of pigs for breeding, you must consider the advantages of each direction. Sebaceous breeds of pigs quickly adapt to new climatic conditions, they are not afraid of temperature drops, keeping in a cool room or simple, not expensive feeding. These are very interesting, quiet animals that do not require painstaking care, but need close attention to their health due to their large body mass.
